Loaf of French Bread - sliced into 20 thin slices. Toast the slices on a baking sheet slowly for about 6 minutes in the oven until they are golden.
Brush the surface of each slice with a small amount of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Here are six toppings for the perfect birthday snacks.
ALICI
Anchovies, Black Olives, Pine Nuts, and Raisins. In small sauté pan heat ¼ cup of olive oil to medium high and sauté one clove of minced garlic until straw color. Add one can of flat anchovies and stir with a wooden spoon until the anchovies turn to paste. Reduce the heat to medium and add 4 ounces of sliced black olives and ½ cup of golden raisins that have soaked in white wine for at least 30 minutes. Constantly stir the mixture and cook for about 10 minutes. Add fresh black pepper to the mixture to taste.
Place the bread garnished with olive oil on a serving platter. Place a small amount of the anchovy mixture on each slice and garnish with fresh chopped parsley. The mixture for this perfect birthday snack may be prepared 2 days in advance and refrigerated.
GORGONZOLA
Red Onion, Walnuts, and Gorgonzola cheese. Caramelize the onions in small saucepan by bringing to a boil 1 tablespoon of butter, 1 teaspoon of super fine sugar, 1 cup of water, and 2 large red onions thinly sliced. Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
Place the bread garnished with olive oil on a serving platter. Place a small slice of gorgonzola cheese on each piece and garnish each slice with a few slices of caramelized onion. Place chopped walnuts on top for a garnish to make this a perfect birthday snacks.
BLT - Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato
Perfect birthday snack for any age! Bacon, lettuce and tomato. Chop ½ pound of bacon and cook until crisp. Chop 4 medium fresh tomatoes. Chop 6-8 basil leaves. Chop ¼ head of iceberg lettuce. Toss half of the cooked bacon (reserving half for garnish) with lettuce, basil and tomato in a bowl. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
Place the bread garnished with olive oil on a serving platter. Place a small amount of the mixture on each slice. Garnish each slice with a few pieces of the bacon reserved for garnish.
SURF AND TURF
Seasoned shrimp and hamburger. Thaw one pound of frozen, cooked shrimp. Drain and dry the shrimp, then chop them into small morsels. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a bowl in the microwave. Place the chopped shrimp in the bowl. Toss the shrimp with 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and ¼ teaspoon of curry powder. In a saucepan sauté ½ chopped onion and ½ pound of lean hamburger in 2 tablespoons of butter until completely cooked. Drain off the grease and add the cooked hamburger to the bowl of shrimp. Toss the mixture gently. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
Place the bread garnished with olive oil on a serving platter. Place a small amount of the mixture on each slice. Garnish each slice with chopped parsley.

WALDORF
Peel and dice 3 Granny Smith apples and cut into ½ inch cubes. Put the apples in a medium size bowl and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Add to bowl 6 celery stalks that have been cleaned and diced, ½ cup of diced walnuts, ½ cup of diced raisins, 1 ½ minced fresh dill or tarragon. Toss mixture well and fold in ½ cup of mayonnaise; add salt and pepper to taste. Chill mixture.
Place the bread garnished with olive oil on a serving platter. Place a small amount of the mixture on each slice. Garnish each slice with a walnut half.

CORDON BLEU
Use medium size bowl to prepare this mixture. Remove the skin and bones from four cooked chicken breasts. Dice the breasts into cubes about ¼ inch square. Dice 4 slices of deli ham. Dice 4 slices of deli Swiss cheese. In a separate bowl prepare Honey-Dijon Vinaigrette as follows: Mince one garlic clove. Add 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 ½ tablespoons of cider vinegar, 1/3 cup of vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon of poppy seeds, ¼ teaspoon of salt, and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper. Toss chicken mixture with Honey-Dijon Vinaigrette.
Place the bread garnished with olive oil on a serving platter. Place a small amount of the mixture on each slice. Garnish each slice with a fresh raspberry and/or a few poppy seeds.
