March Flower
March Birth Month Flower
March Flower is the daffodil! The most famous of spring flowers is the daffodil. Daffodils are associated with renewal and a promise of true love, making them a perfect birth flower.
A bountiful bouquet of daffodils brings a very pleasant and happy feeling to all ages.
"Daffodil" is the common name for narcissus flowers. Hybrids now come in many colors, but most commonly in yellow. They are usually very fragrant.
Daffodils are grown all over the world and are a very adaptive perennial.
Daffodils are grown from bulbs. The better the quality and larger the bulb, the better and larger the plant will be when it blooms in the spring.
Plant the bulbs in the fall about about three weeks before winter temperature drops to freeze the ground. Do not plant the bulbs in already frozen soil because the roots will not grow. Plant the bulbs about 7 inches below the soil and about six inches apart.
Buy bulb fertilizer and place it in each hole before planting.
Daffodils grow well in full sun or shade.
It is important to allow the plant to naturally die back in the spring after it has stored energy in the bulb for another year.
