The goal of flex exercises are to stretch muscles in a specific directions to prevent cramps, stiffness, and injury during exercises. Balance and breathing techniques are taught with the exercise. Yoga and Tai Chi have become popular flex exercise programs.
These exercises also emphasize proper breathing, balance, and alignment. Some forms of flexibility training, such as yoga and tai chi, include meditation and breathing techniques that can reduce stress.
Weight training is a form of anaerobic exercise which increase short-term muscle strength. This helps with every day efforts, such as carrying large bags of groceries or heavy gardening.
Some strength training routines include weights, elastic bands, or plastic tubes. Lifting weights at home whenever feasible will help with aerobic and flex exercise goals.
If you have arthritis, strong muscles releive stress on joints. Strengthening muscles reduces shock to joints and help prevent injury.
