Bacon Cheese Dip for Birthday Party
Free recipe from www.perfect-birthday.com
This dip is served hot with a small gravy ladle.
INGREDIENTS
One pound of bacon cooked and crumbled. Two 8 ounce packages of cream cheese; 1 cup of half and half; 1 tablespoon of minced onion; 2 tablespoons of yellow mustard (same as hotdog mustard); 4 cups of shredded Monterey Jack cheese; 2 teaspoons of Worchestershire sauce; ¼ teaspoon of hot sauce; ½ teaspoon of salt.
This recipe uses a double boiler. Pour about one cup of water in the bottom pan of the double boiler and place the top pan above it.
Place all ingredients except the bacon in the top pan of the double boiler and slow cook for about one hour or until cheese melts. Periodically stir the mixture to ensure all the ingredients are well blended.
Before serving add crumpled bacon and season to taste.
Pour mixture into a heavy crock or earthenware bowl that will retain the heat. Serve on Italian bruschetta or thinly sliced French bread.
